Peoria adds community resource Free activities abound August 8 – 12 as Credit Union West opens another branch in Peoria at 6777 W. Cactus Rd. Food, fun and giveaways will be provided during the grand opening festivities. The branch will serve as another community resource for local residents. Visitors are encouraged to participate in a Westside Food Bank food drive and receive exclusive goodie bags from Qwest all week long from 10 am – 2pm. Free activities include: Blood pressure checks by Adultcare Assistance; vehicle inspection certificates from Wilhelm Automotive; enter to win free tickets on the Verde Canyon Railroad or Dolly Steamboat; enter to win free theater tickets from Theater Works and Arizona Broadway Theatre. Have your picture taken with a giant newspaper, courtesy of Independent Newspapers, and enjoy refreshments while you check out the new branch, in colors reminiscent of Tuscany. Attend a free credit score enhancement workshop where you can see your credit report through the eyes of a lender. A schedule of daily events is posted on the web site: www.cuwest.org. Under “Coming Soon,” click on Cactus Branch Opening Festivities. The credit union staff is eager to welcome members and visitors as well. There will be plenty of chilled bottled water, freshly brewed coffee, cookies, a children’s play area, and comfortable lounge area. The new 5,600 square foot facility is the nonprofit financial organization’s largest branch, and is one of two that will open in the next few months. The other branch, currently in development stages, will be built in Surprise. “We’re excited to expand our presence, not only to our existing membership, but to serve all residents of the West Valley who want a vote and a share in their financial institution,” says Steve Becker, President and CEO. “At Credit Union West, our members own the credit union.”
