Job Title: Network Administrator
Branch Location: Corporate
Hours Needed: Full-time
Salary Range: $19.26 - $24.07/hr

SUMMARY:

Enhances the quality of life for our members/team members by meeting or exceeding their service expectations.  This position is responsible for ensuring the stable operation of the in-house computer network.  This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all network hardware, software and communication links.  This position will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Administer servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Administer security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Administer all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs and UPSs.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software and peripheral devices.
  • Perform network design and capacity planning.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to develop network products and services recommendations.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Establish service level agreements with end users, meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Perform server and security audits.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Provide guidance and assist in training junior members of the team.
  • Performs all responsibilities within compliance and security requirements for the I.T. department.

  • Ensures all internal members are trained and prepared for any network or system changes that will impact daily operations.
  • Projects and maintains the Credit Union’s professional reputation, while preserving the confidentiality of Credit Union systems and records.
  • Ensures the Credit Union's IT services are well coordinated and effectively meet member needs.
  • Enhances the quality of life for Credit Union members.  A service record that meets established standards is maintained.
  • Ensures that good working relationships and coordination exist with all personnel, management, members and vendors. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification

Four year degree in the field of computer science. Additional computer related coursework preferred.

Maintains Microsoft Certification. 

Other system certifications in credit union related programs preferred.

Required Knowledge

Extensive technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, servers and security systems, hardware, protocols and standards.

Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Extensive knowledge of personal and core system computer hardware and general software applications.

Experience Required

At least two years experience in network and systems operations. 

Experience with application support and troubleshooting.

Talking

Average Hearing

Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Finger Dexterity

Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

Repetitive Motion Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Average Visual Abilities

Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.

Physical Strength

Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. 

Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs.(Almost all office jobs.)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
Mathematics Ability Ability to perform basic math skills and to use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret spreadsheets and graphs.
Language Ability

Ability to use passive vocabulary of 5,000-6,000 words; read at a moderate rate; and define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation.

Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and using adjectives and adverbs.

Ability to communicate in complex sentences, using normal word order with present and past tense and good vocabulary.
